Hi,
Can you please review my site:
www.halesowen.ac.uk
I'm trying to make it a bit less black and white, how would you suggest styling my header tags?
I have a few apps on there too, please do not apply for anything, I'm just after styling/ layout advice.
I'm aware there are some validation issues, I'm working on those :o
Any feedback is much appreciated.
Thankyou

Looks fine to me. I presume the purple is a college colour else I'd be tempted to tone it down a tad. Navigation seems pretty clear.
My only quibble would be your links. You should have something happen when you mouseover so the user knows it's a link. Also, not sure just underlining the first character of the link text is very helpful. Either underline all the link and/or make sure the colour is different from non-linking text.
Hope this helps.
Is the one-letter-link-underlining for accessibility? If so, I'm not sure if applying the technique to your entire navigation menu is a good idea. As pointed out in the previous post, it's a little confusing. Instead, you might make sure that those links are first in the tabindex series. I would apply the one-letter technique to the search box, underlining the "A."

it's definitely getting there, keep working on it and improving it. also, the validator found 62 errors on your site.

Is the one-letter-link-underlining for accessibility? They indicate accellerators like Alt-G to jump to the General page.

You've got an overlap in your accellerators with Full Time and Feedback.

They indicate accellerators like Alt-G to jump to the General page.
Then prehaps you should indicate this very clearly because it's not something you expect to find on web pages. Just looks odd to most users. At least have an underline mouseover?

At least have an underline mouseover? They aren't meant for someone using a mouse.

Thanks for all your feedback guys.
I have recently been forced to put a large image on the home page, what are your thoughts on this? Is it much of a problem?
Thankyou

Nice site, easy to navigate. Just a suggestion, try to center the layout to make it proportion on the right.

They aren't meant for someone using a mouse.
So all the expected visitors are not using a mouse. Well that's alright then...
