Error 500: Configuration Error

I have copied a CGI script for a messageboard onto my website but I keep getting a Error 500: Configuration Error
when I try to run it.

I have checked and re-checked the set-up a thousand times but I'm still getting the same error.

Can anyone help?

Not without seeing the script. All you've really told us thus far is that it doesn't work.

I know that... what I don't know is whether the 500 error is something to do with the server or the actual script?

That's what I need help on identifying the error.

Assuming you can run other scripts (you can try running a hello world script), it is a problem with the script.
