Javascript image based drop down menu

Hi,
I'm wanting to create a drop down menu (top navigation). I have found loads of free scripts on the internet but most of them create the menu buttons themselves in javascript.

I would like to have my own rollover images as the buttons, then when rolling over, a pop up menu to appear with sub menus - preferably with customisation for background highlight colour, border size/colour etc.

quickmenu pro at www.opencube.com is just the thing - but at $150 there is no chance!
