Redesign of existing site (geologyrocks.co.uk)

Hi all,

I've just finished a redesign of www.geologyrocks.co.uk

http://www.geologyrocks.co.uk - Current site.

http://demo.geologyrocks.co.uk - New site.

If anyone has any suggestions or opinions on the redesign, I'd be happy to hear them.

Do you prefer the current site or the new site?

You can tell that it's a .uk from the horrific pun.

The new homepage is certainly classier, only weak point being those bullet points in your navigation: see if you can fit something like this (http://css.maxdesign.com.au/listamatic/vertical08.htm) into your design.

You glossary page looks a little empty until you select a specific letter, I'd fill it up with a "word of the week" type thing.

Kudos on the clean coding.

It's good work, keep it up.

I prefer the new site.
But, I agree with the tree, drop the bullets, your website deserves something better.
And, my opinion (but it's only me, and then, I'm such a weird girl after all...), your color scheme could be improved. Too much blue.
I, personnaly, would go for pale shades of brown, maybe a bit redish too... I don't know, I just don't like this kind of blue. Light brown would also remind us of geology, even more than blue, and it would be warmer.
But them, if you maybe add another color to all that blue, it would be better. Just try it !!!

Over all I like the old one better. I'd use that as the basis for the new site but add the additional content I see spiked out.

We did actually try a brown colour scheme when we first decided on this layout. We didn't like it very much. Saying that, on looking critically, there is far too much blue....I'll have to think about that. Thanks.

I'm also pleased somewhat by you preferring the old site, ray326 - means it's not completely crap :)

I like it. I wont go into technical details, ultimately i'd browse your site if the site was something i was interested in. Simple as that. Its clearly laid out and info is easy to find.
