Hi all,

Here is a job bank I am making. It has some decent effects but it just doesn't look aestheticly pleasing enough, and I can't place why. I think it is the font, since it is so text heavy I want to use a less commonly used one. The only problem is I barely have enough space as it is - my original intent was to require no scrolling but I realized that was impossible with what I was trying to do.

What do you all think about the looks?

Needs more color; primarly as the centered tables bg.
A very basic page bg patten would also liven things up.
Maybe some Images, or a focal point

In web design you are really limited to only a handfull of font faces, so you have to be really creative to achieve the look you want.

BTW thats some serious old school coding under the hood; and whats with the Javascript?

Yeah, I know about the tables being awful code but what is wrong with the javascript?

It doesn't look very professional. The black background is OK for personal sites, but I wouldn't use it for a business.

A logo or something might give some credibility to the site.

Well cool, thank you very much everyone. I did a pretty significant redesign. I had better images for my elements but IE was rendering them wrong so I had to ditch that. Still need to fix the page tabs because IE is rendering those wrong, too. Pain in the butt having to sacrifice things for IE, I might make it detect browser version and display the better page if you are using FF, Moz, etc.
