web hosting set-up

Hello , maybe someone out there can point me in the right direction.. I am in need of info on setting up a web hosting platform to offer to our customers. I need to know hardware and software applications that go into making this venture work. Appreciate any help..

There are a lot of things to be taken into consideration, but one of the big ones is your connection speed. To offer retail hosting, you aren't going to simply throw a server on a DSL connection. Also, you will need to decide what kind of server you are going to offer. You going to go open source and run Linux with Apache and PHP? Or jump on the Microsoft bandwagon and run a Win 2000 with IIS and ASP?
