Can anyone tell me what %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k means. When I started up my Gateway GT5026E I got a serious error and windows had to shut down. After a windows update yesterday, the computer promted me to restart. Well it stalled and wouldnt do anything so I manually shut it down. After a few minutes I restarted it and the monitor wasnt getting a signal. After some trial and error I discovered I had to remove my video cardand go back to using my analoug wire. Could this systemroot problem be because of this? I havnt tried reinstalling the video card yet. Im running Win XP SP2, virus portection and firewall. Many Thanks, Ladytrae

That would be the location on the hard drive containing a system dump created at the time of the error. %systemroot% is wherever the operating system is installed and could be somewhere such as c:\windows or C:\winnt

My first guess would be that it is similar to "Minidump" which is occasionally found on the Windows folder...happens if you install drivers or something for another device without properly uninstalling the previous device or program.

Getting rid of the "Minidump" folder will be a great help....maybe i am off base on this one but is does sound a bit like what happened tomy comp when I upgraded it without uninstalling old components.
