I need to have 2 professionals in the web development industry review my portfolio site for a class assignment.

If you can help out, please email me your review at dmordkov@purdue.edu and please list your name, title, and the company you work for. I need to forward that email to my professor as evidence. Thanks.

Your brave asking these guys then, Their not very forgiving.

Most these guys like to see the use of an external CSS file (As do I), which you have not done.

Most of these guys also dont like the use of tables for layout either (As do I), which you have done.

CSS should be used for layout.

Also CSS rollover nav bars work better than Javascript ones too.

Best of luck though. :)

Thank :p I'm not claiming to have the best site ever. My major doesn't really leave me much free time for anything so it's just something I put together in a day for this particular assignment. I plan on totally re-designing as soon as I get some time.

I know but you were asking for a review.

I would give you a full one and send you an email one but I am not a pro developer anyways and I aslo would not be doing you any favors cos I would bring up all the things I did in my last post and more.

I would just expect a better standard from someone at uni doing web development.

I only have around 6 months experiance in making web sites but would have used the techniques I mentioned if I were making that site.

Hi -
Your graphics look good, I'd be a bit pickier about which photos to include:
they don't even seem to have been optimized, cropped, or edited in any way,
either. As far as the site design is concerned, lose the serif font and the
difficult to read one used for navigation. [No need for the top of page link,
either on shorter pages.]

I think that your university is just a bit behind the times if you're
using tables for layout and lots of javascript for effects - and if
the major is web design, then you should have the basics down by now!
[Which is probably what johneva was saying.] At least it seems you're learning a range of technologies...

Good luck & have fun,
El

What do you mean? Yes, I need people to look at my site and tell me what they think. Except I need them to tell me in an email so I can show my professor that yes I had it looked at by someone in the industry.

I'm a professional webmaster, working for a KY state gov. agency. My review will be coming to you from my name @ky.gov. (Don't want to put it the full address here, for fear of spammers trawling through the site.)
