is java a good first language for me? i know absolutly nothing about programing..lol..i do know html and a little javascript though...

if java is a good first language what do i need to start writing eg:tuts compilers(which im still not quite sure what a compiler is)

what program do i put my script into

if java isnt a good first language for a complete noob like me then what is

most of you dont have to post hear..plese be patient with me im new..and i know that and i know the anser may be google..but ive looked i need people with experience and seems to me like u guys r the people with experience well thanks for your posts in advanced(if i get any :-0 )

your first stop should be at
java.sun.com

Try their documentation section they have detailed tutorials on every topic.
If you want ease of learning then my guess is VB could be easier to learn however, java is an Object Oriented programming language, hence learning this as a first lang will have extremly good influence on your way of thinking, hence preparing you the best for any other OO programming language...

ok im either going with java or pascal...do u guys have pros and cons for these 2 choices?

In case of u, C is a good programming language. If u able to implement DS programs in C, then u will become good programmer.
No doubt about it.
