Grid Computing

Any ideas on drawing a grid with DIV tags and javascript and css if necessary? I have to create one 23 X 23 units, i was wanting to do it in a for loop instead of coordinating 529 div elements.

If those three techs dont work, any other ideas?

I would prefer not to have a transparent graphic overlayed if possible, but that is the only other way i can see of doing it.
