I have recently been thinking of switching my program of study from eBusiness to computer programming. This would mean leaving university and going to college. The program is a 2 year program, focusing an Java, C++, and oracle databases. The program also prepares me for a database administrator certificate testing. I don't wish to get a computer science degree in university since that would require me taking chemistry and physics, which requires highschool chemistry and physics prerequisites, which I do not have.

A lot of people tell me it's a stupid decision, since I only have 2 years left. I'm wondering if there are any professional programmers that have similar degrees to the one I wish to take.

Whats the starting salary for a junior programmer in this field?
Is it difficult to find a job in this field?
Will companies be looking for university degrees and not college degrees?

Any information will help.
