Hi, what is the relationship between the screen resolution (screen area) and monitor size. For example, lets take three monitors: the first is 15", the second is 17" and the third is 21" and all are set to 800 x 600. Does this mean the screen in each will be devided into 800 units horizontaly and 600 units vertically and thus the pixel in the 21" monitor is largest in size. Or the pixel in all three monitors is of the same dimentions and thus the 21" monitor will have more pixels horizontaly but then how can the resolution be 800 x 600 in all three ???

Each monitor has maximum resolution it is capable of displaying, so does the video controller. However that does not mean that everyone uses the smaller of the two. While I may have my 21" minitor set up at 1600x1200 someone with vision problems may run it at 800x600.

Thanks Supreme but that does not answer my question ... would you take a look at it again if you know the answer

Thanks,

With the same resolution a pixel will be larger on larger monitor. I think you are confusing the resolution of video controller with monitor resolution (which is usually measured in dpi).
This question would be more appropriate on some Computer Hardware than Web Developer forum....
