Should I study for an MCAD or should I go to my bosses and say, "I feel I need to learn ASP.NET before I try to obtain an MCAD."
This all started out some time ago with my current employers promissing ASP.NET training in the not too distant future. Eventually I got tired of waiting and started studying on my own.
5 chapters into my studying ASP.NET they decided we should all get MCAD certified. The plan was that we would learn 2 chapters a week and have 2 discussions a week. In 4 weeks we have only gone over 3 chapters.
As we go though the chapters I find it more and more difficult to understand what is going on. The book we are using is not ment for beginners. There has also been talk of switching to another book. It's a big experiment and I'm not sure I want to be a part of it.
I know I will feel like I am less then my peers if they become certified and I do not. However I believe I will have an easier time optaining new employment and an MCAD if I know ASP.NET.
So what are your thoughts?
