How do I register an odd doman name.

Hey guys :)

I hope you can help me.

We are starting an online gaming site. The network has asked us to register an odd domain name like so..

www.gameserver.sitename.com

Go daddy does not understand the domain name nor does net registry. There other sites that use the same format so I know it can be done.

I also tried making it into a sub domain but godaddy simply cuts the www off so it becomes gameserver.sitename.com.

The problem is the software accesses the name with www in front (www.gameserver.sitename.com)

So my question is...

How do I register a domain in the format?

You must first register www.sitename.com then once purchased must add the subdomain gameserver to your domain

Hey PC :)

I actually did create a subdomain called gameserver for it ( gameserver.sitename.com.) but it has to have www in front.

so...

www.gameserver.sitename.com fails to resolve

gameserver.sitename.com works fine.

The software points to www.gameserver.sitename.com which i don't seem to be able to make into a sub domain.

I hope I am explaining that properly hehe

Make a sub-subdomain called www that redirects to gameserver in 0 seconds ;)

Our DNS system can provide you a "www.gameserver.sitename.com" resolve

You just set up an A record for the WWW version that points to the same place as the version without it.
