Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Restricting Remote Linking
Here is my question:-------
I am in the process of making a web site that will have several links to other pages/directories, one of which will contain images, graphics, smiley faces, etc!
What I need to know is, is there some way to restrict remote linking but still allow the visitor/user to right-click and save the images to their own hard drive?
If it can be done it would be OK to restrict the entire website or just the graphics/image directory. Which ever would be the easiest.

If you use Apache, this discussion may be of use to you:

If not, look into your server documentation.

Angelfire is a web host (part of Lycos). I presume you meant Apache, which is a common (free, open source) web server. For more info, see here: http://httpd.apache.org/
If you're not sure which server you are using, you'll have to consult your host, and ask them about preventing remote linking.

Hi Adam, thanks for the quick replies. And yes I stand corrected, I ment Apache, dont know why I said angelfire.... LOL I never have had anything to do with them.
As far as my ISP, I have IE (Internet Explorer). By web server I assume you ment ISP, right?

Internet Explorer is a web browser, a program used to view HTML pages on the World Wide Web. I'm talking about a web server, which is the computer at the other end which provides the page to IE. If you are accessing the page locally, you have no server, but if it is online it is on a web server (probably that of your ISP). An ISP (Internet Service Provider) is a company which provides internet access, and possibly web hosting as well.
