Is there any way of simply getting translucent divs? I've trolled the web and cant find anything that useful, was wondering if u guys could help!

Two ways:
1) IE supports an opacity filter to make things truly transparent.
2) Putting pictures behind that are similiar colours and with the same background colour. e.g. www32.brinkster.com/jjscripts
