Anyone downloaded (and purchased) PAS78 (http://www.bsi-global.com/News/Releases/2006/March/n440d89306e52b.xalter) yet? Does it include anything about not using tables for layout purposes?

I've always been surprise at how badly the RNIB website is designed, so I'm not too confident that their involvement would be a good thing...

I know some people in the RNIB web development department and a Web Accessibility Consultant for RNIB, and I know a few people that are attending the launch… Though they have to be joking: £30.00.

I think the RNIB site uses a CMS and this is part of the issue.

Yes, 56 pages including the bumf the high price is because of the BSI's policy on charging.

Perhaps some generous (but brave) souls might put it on bit torrent so we can see what it's suggesting...

Fine chance but it would be interesting (I cannot imagine it is that great).

BSI in breach of own disabled advice:

No it doesn't say a lot. It's a general overview rather than specific guidelines or examples of code.

One of the key points (Section 9) is that it says there is not yet any UK company that can say it meets the DDA as there has been no case law in the UK yet.

There are lots of better sources of information on the web for how to use technology to design for accessibility.

Though they have to be joking: £30.00.

That's £30+VAT (or +P&P if you buy the VAT-free paper version)
