I am sorry for sturring up dust, I should have never provoked anyone to become offensive, and I should have not started crap with anyone. I don't even remember why I did anyway, so that tells me Im the lame one, like many of you have already said. I commend those who read my post and kept a cool head, you were professional and I commend that. I am sorry if I ruined anyones day yesterday. Plus I am becoming a nuisance to this forum, to you, and to it's moderators. Why should I make things harder for them, considering they volunteer to help us when we need it, and are as helpful to us as possible. I have no right to bother the moderators, and Im sorry to all of you. Also the members of this forum, I am sorry for bothering you as well, you come here to interact with each other and to trade and share developing advice and tricks and the last thing you need is me making you angry. I have no right to do so. I am sorry. I have no valid exscuse for picking at people and I promise to stop at all costs. There is no need to be enemys here we should spread love because right now this world needs as much as it can get.

I think “frustrate” is a good word, Jona. Not hatred or even anger. Maybe too much testosterone (some of us).:)
Not even sure that I should reply at all, since the sooner this just fades away the better.
Code One, we’ve corresponded before. I like knowing about ideas that are different than mine, even if I can’t embrace them. At the very least, it forces me to re-evaluate and re-affirm. That can’t be a bad thing. Welcome back.

Well, I hope Mike gets his tush in gear and fixes GT.....it seems that GT is having more and more problems functioning.
Maybe it is too big?
Jona
05-20-2003, 01:42 PM
It wouldn't be because it's too big, because the problem is server-side and it's all dynamic. That's why there's no, "error 404" on their site.. Unless the URL is WAAAAAAAAAYYY off of the wall. Anyhow, Mike is online right now, so I told excellfire to bug the life out of him.... She said she would... I think. ;)
Dark Dragon
05-20-2003, 01:45 PM
Heh..he will just "love" that now, won't he?
Well he deserves it after all...letting GT be down for so long.
Yes, there is no "404 Error" alright...you simply cannot access it at all. I hope Excellfire is successful in her "quest to bug".
Jona
05-20-2003, 01:47 PM
Mike just said, "it will be fixed in a sec." So I'm guessing it's not a big problem... He said something was wrong with the Forum Creation tools. So after he fixes that we shouldn't have a problem.
He also said that he wasn't online two days ago and wasn't able to get on yesterday... "until today."
Update: He said it would be up within a few hours.
Dark Dragon
05-20-2003, 01:49 PM
"In a sec" means two days huh?
Boy, I wonder how long a big problem would last considering GT was down yesterday too....oh well, we shall see then.

I’m twice khaki’s age and I can call her “khaki”, or “khaki”, or even “khaki”.
Always remember: two sets of rules
We (men) are supposed to act like we never noticed that, but there are two sets of rules.
They can call us whatever they want. We can call them “yes, ma’am” or proper name only. “Yes, your majesty” will also work, but you better say it with a straight face! Try even one little “honey” and you’re in SO much trouble, unless of course she wants you to, then there’s a third set of rules. (Whew!) And be careful about the “miss”, “missus”, or “mizz” part. It’s so complicated, well, h*ck, just don’t even talk to ‘em!

The Truth About Men!
1. The nice men are ugly.
2. The handsome men are not so nice.
3. The handsome and nice men are gay.
4. The handsome, nice, heterosexual men are married.
5. The men who are not so handsome but are nice men, have no money.
6. The men who are not so handsome but are nice men with money think we are only after their money.
7. The handsome men without money are after our money.
8. The handsome men who are not so nice and somewhat heterosexual, don’t think we are beautiful enough.
9. The men who think we’re beautiful who are heterosexual, somewhat nice, and have money are cowards.
10. The men who are somewhat handsome, somewhat nice, have some money and thank God are heterosexual, are shy and never make the first move!
11. The men who never make the first move automatically lose interest in us when we take the initiative.
NOW WHO IN THE H*** UNDERSTANDS MEN?!?
Men are like a fine wine. They all start out like grapes and it’s our job to stomp on them and keep them in the dark until they mature into something you’d like to have dinner with.

lol, Web-eagle. That's funny. I personally don't care what girls call me... Unless they're ugly or something... No, I'm just kidding. lol I don't care what girls call me, because it doesn't matter to me. Thing is, it doesn't work the other way around (although I would like that  ). If I a girl calls me stupid, and I call her stupid back... Yup, my parents come out with a broom.. OK, I'm exaggerating, but you get the point.. Girl goes off crying because I called stupid, I end up in trouble, etc., etc... No offense to girls, if I didn't like them, I wouldn't let them call me names. Anyhow, I've just learned to take stuff and keep my mouth shut. Believe it or not, I talk a lot here, but everyone in my family says I have an extremely low voice for my age--which is rarely used. And they're right... I only open my mouth to eat. When my mouth is used to talk, it's only when I have a matter of importance on which to discuss, or I am inquired upon any certain subject. This comes natural to me... I suppose good looks is another reason why girls stare at me all the time. lol, but I'm serious. I like sit there and I notice there's some girl sitting there across the room just staring at me and smiling. And I'm like, "Whoa..." and I kinda act like I don't know... Sheesh, I think I typed a lot. Whew! OK, but anyways, I think y'all get the picture, right?

I just downloaded the full album of White Pony (DefTones) and it rocks!!!!! I know it's old but hey bands stopped being good past 96'. When Tupac and Nirvana, and biggie passed on. Ok you got coal chamber, but they broke up, ok so you got System of a down, but they sold out, and now they rap, nuff said, not that rap is bad, notice I mentioned my love for tupac and biggie, but when you come out with toxicity you dont follow up with steal this album, because I wouldnt steal it to save my life. It's crap!!!!! Also notice I am ignoring the fact that we were forced to listen to the backstreet boys and britney spears, I am still trying to forget. Therfor, I am left as many of you are to search back for old bands, like greatful dead, and sound garden, etc. Bands that played for the art and not for the money. Though sadly just like Korn, many of them sell out as well, and then you are left sifting threw the ones that never fail, like nirvana, and Alice in chains. Anyway . . .
My point is I love DefTones and the above is why. I just hope they dont sell out or break up like all my favorite bands from before have all done.
Thanks

Ok, it’s fairly obvious now that this thread HAS no topic. So let’s see…
I’m a guy. I promise.
I have enough testosterone that it’s starting to make my hair thin out in a little bitty circle on top my head (IOW, khaki would never in a bazillion years ever call me “sweety”!)
I’ve never called any woman “honey”, not ever. (Although I did marry a real “babe”!)
My age in four years will be twice as much as khaki’s will be when she is three times as old as Jona will be when he posts his 5000th message.
My favorite game is still Tetris, although Master of Orion 2 is also very good.
My favorite music comes from a guy named Manilow. And Chicago is a close second.
I’m not frustrated any more, although I am very sorry Code One started anything.:D
And now I’m going to go ponder my future, which probably includes eating ice cream while listening to Barry crooning…
…..Got dust on my piano…..

Chicago, is one of the best instrumental bands of all time, possibly. Along with Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Dave Matthews, just to name a few. Can't say I like Manilow, not really a jazz person, though I do like this really rad chic named Rickie Lee Jones. As far as games checkers is my favorite. Electronically though I gotta say Mafia is my favorite comp. game, and Street Fighter II is my favorite console game. Favorite poet is Dante. Favorite philosopher is Einstein in all his perfection, by the way he was a philospher as well. Favorite animal is a cat named Lion for all his strength, courage, and pride. Favorite instrument is the piano, cuz it's the only one I can play besides the harmonica, and that dont really count. Favorite type of music is classical, sorry Kurt. Favorite composer is Beethoven for the Nocturne, it just seems like the bass and treble are crying. Anyway . . . thats just some things I like.

my brother (oldest) listens/listened to Chicago (24 or 6 to 4 and Saturday in the Park... right  ?).
Kinda "dated" now, but still good (and it reminds me of being a little kid :) )
Barry is so uncool that he is now ultra-cool (my sister-in-law loves him, and just saw him on Broadway or something. Or maybe he was just playing in one of the caberet clubs. I don't remember now).
Anyway... he seems to be riding the same wave that Tony Bennett rode a few years ago (well... at least here in New York, anyway).
He's okay (but kinda goofy  )
I've decided that i will not call web-eagle "sweety" (or "sweetie").
I've chosen to call him "we beagle" (or probably just "beagle").
but i'm a total whack... so whatever.
don't sweat the "little bitty circle" thing beag.
my boss has one of those... and I call him "romeo" (well.... his last name is actually "Romeo"... but still).
and seriously... it's not so bad...
a girl can use it as a mirror (if you're where we like you to hold it for us  .... don't let Jona read that. LOL)
what else?
oh yeah.... games!
i got 2 older bro's so...
Space Invaders, Pac-man (NOT Ms. Pac-Man!!!), Donkey Kong, Frogger.
Also Madden Football (I always beat my bro and he HATES it!!! :) ), the NHL one (IE sports?) although I always lose and get a blister on my thumb  and NBA Jam
and...
my favorite game of all-time: POOL (billiards).
I... KICK.... BUTT.... at pool!!!
(until i win too much and start drinking my winnings  ).
Instruments?
don't play any :(
my favorite instrument?
bass
(drums/percussion comes in at a close 2nd)
favorite animal?
I have a soft-spot for strays.
So... mostly cats.
but I've built some great friendships with homeless dogs as well (and even a coyote and a parakeet!).
what else?
oh.... ELO is NOT classical music CO.
Go to Amazon.com or TowerRecords.com or something to hear them.
They really have a lot of songs that you will probaly already know (and/or like).
Favorite philosopher?
Ben Franklin :)
Favorite jazz musician?

Anyone here familuar with Einsteins therory of illusion, I was wondering if someone could explain to me just what he meant. I mean I think I know but I want to make sure before I go believing one way or another. Ok he says if you look into space lets say something like 10 thousand light years and you see a star that has exploded and is to your view scattered and moving apart from its core (the center of explosion), and all these particles were all sorts of colors and shapes and they were simply floating threw space, and you are looking at them threw a telescope and there distance from you is of course 10 thousand light years away. According to my understanding of Einsteins therory and from his explanation of the 4th demesion, etc. the particles and it's exsistance is a reflection of what once was, something that happened 10 thousand light years ago, which is possible to time, considering time equals length, and since space is designed how it is, it can be timed in such a manner constituting the presents of a 4th demension. Meaning as far as I can comprehend, that anything you see in space that is thousands of light years away is a projection of the past, and in reality is not really there.? I am totally confused. You would think that something like that would be impossible or considering that the particles would still be there (real) and not an illusion, the process would simply just be of one solid mass becoming many solid masses which are now floating slowly threw space, and the only measuring required would be from the stars intial position to it's most current one with in the universe, right? I mean how is it possible to view an illusion over and over, any time , any day, forever, and ever. That to me is something real.
Any help

Well, from a practical standpoint:
A lightyear is the distance you'd travel if you moved at the speed of light for an entire year.
Object X is a star which give of light (this is what we see at night obviously)
Object X is 10,000 lightyears away.
It makes sense logically that the light from the object (Star) will take 10,000 years to reach earth. So, we see the star as it was 10,000 years ago and no sooner.
Personally, I don't think people can handle this idea because we're all used to things that exist in the present. We are stuck in time, the present. Take a look at the first quote in my sig (which is Einsteins).
Makes you think, doesn't it? :D

Well, Mr. Einstien turned down a job as first president of Israel, so he may be even smarter than we think!
I’m not familiar with a “theory of illusion” as such, but what you describe sounds like typical astronomical conjecture. Light has a maximum speed (See specific theory of relativity). Actually it has only one speed: the speed of light (sic)
When something happens anywhere in the universe (and it releases measurable EM of some form) it takes a certain amount of time for the light (radio, uv, whatever) to travel to your eye. So yes, for great distances, that means that by the time you “see” it, it’s long since gone.
As far as particles as concerned, nothing with mass can approach the speed of light, so it’s unlikely that particles from great distances could be accurately linked to their point of origination, simply because they’d arrive so far behind the visible (light) component.
Mr. Einstein is also quoted as having said the following:
“The hardest thing to understand is income tax.”
“Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.”
“The secret of creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.”
“An empty stomach is not a good political advisor.”
“If at first the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it.”
“To punish me for my contempt for authority, fate has made me an authority myself.”
“Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen.”
Mr. Web-Eagle is quoted as having said:
Queen also rocks (I like “big” sounds!)
khaki, never thought holding a mirror could make the testosterone level jump like that!
edit:
havik jumped in there whle I was typing, so...yea...what he said!:)
Code One

that the therory of illusion is not based on the solid rock particales but what you are timing is the light made from the explosion or burning gases illuminating the rock (star). That isnt as amazing as I thought, of course light would endlessly travel and be seen as it was when it was first developed. That is a pretty clever concept though, I would have never thought to think about that. To bad Einstein isnt still around Id love to talk to him.
thanks for clearing it up,
Code One
By the way:
Einstein saying that motion and time being an illusion is pretty deep, but is also a poorly thought out phrase, because in order to perceive everything at once, you would have to speed everything up to a speed so quick that it would appear to be instant, what you are ignoring is the fact that no matter the speed the movement of the object can still be timed regardless of the speed, meaning time and motion are not an illusion but two things which govern movement and are unable to be segregated. Time is present on its own our minds do not concieve time nor does it conceive motion.
