I can't use the email member function on IPB 2.1.4
My server is a local computer using xxamp (apache package) for windows. I'm behind a router, port 25 is forwarded.
When using PHP mail() as my mail delivery method, I get an error simply saying the email could not be sent. How useful.
I'm not sure how to set up Mercury (the SMTP server included in xxamp), that is, if it even needs changes made.
Without doing anything to Mercury, when I put the information:
Over-ride SMTP Host: localhost
Over-ride SMTP Port: 25
Add '<' and '>' to 'to' and 'from' addresses: No
SMTP UserName: None
SMTP Password: None
I get the error "Could not open a socket to the SMTP server." I'm not sure if I need to change a setting in Mercury (if I do, please help) or if I need to change the info I put in IPB.
Please help.
