Adding Images To A Picture

Hi,

I am just starting with Paint Shop Pro X and I have made a gradient picture and made a sun and copied and pasted it to my picture, but when I go to add more things, I notice that my sun has a moving broken line around it and the top title bar says floating selection. When I try to add trees or clouds, nothing works. Any info would sure help.

open your layers tool and create new layer
