This service is intended for developers who need to keep their own code snippets and find the necessary code by other developers as well, as to share discoveries with friends and colleagues.


What has been done
  • Sing up, sign in, forgotten password recovery.
  • Publication of the snippet (this is possible even without authorization, simply by entering the captcha)
  • Easy breakdown of the snippets by categories and tags
  • The search system (looking only by name and by tag for now)
  • Profile of the user with the added snippets and "Favorites"
  • Opportunity to vote for the snippet (respectively, it affects the rating both: snippet and its author)
  • Ability to add a snippet of "My Favorites"
  • Ability to share the snippet to social networks (only FB, Twitter, Google+ and russian VK.com)
  • Download a snippet as a text file, the ability to view the code in a separate browser tab (just a raw code, without any "husk"), and within the interface of the system (of course, each snippet have a readable permalink).
  • Comments for snippets
  • RSS-feed with latest added snippets, devided by categories
  • The service interface is available in English, Russian, Czech and German.


Plans for the near future
The basic policy of the service - based on your feedbacks will be built next functionality. Yet our plans include:
  • Further development of the basic functionality.
  • Sign in via social networks (at least, Facebook and Twitter).
  • Editing snippets and as a result, their versioning.
  • Some encouragement for active users on the basis of their ranking.

I just finished the re-design of the website for the company that i work for, and i wanted to get some people's feedback.

A little background of the company is that we are an event broadcasting company that targets both businesses and consumers so I had to separate our messaging really into two sites.

On the business side of things we have a product which is an embeddable event calendar widget. Businesses can choose from the Free version or paid versions depending on what they are looking for and customize the look and feel of the widget they select to look like their brand. Then all they have to do is embed an iFrame onto their site and its up and running. They add events to their calendar and it automatically updates their widget as well as syncs with other 3rd party calendars such as Google, Yahoo, etc. We also promote their added events locally and nationally to over 100,000 websites helping to gain exposure.

On the personal side of things the focus is to get across the message that people can follow their favorite brands calendars and gain access to all of their events. They can also use it as a personal calendar if they want or create calendars to share with family or friends. We also created a mobile app so people can access the calendars they are following from there phone.

So that's the background if you could all let me know if you feel that this design and messaging clarifies that is some way that would be great.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my thread, I think its time a get some feedback from all you lovely people, but first a little about me.

Always had an interest for web design, even back in the days of geocity, excite and lycos (hahaha how many remember those?) i was always trying out and clicking on that damn "free website here" link. Did some hobbyist website back then which i can safely say were very basic. Web design back then was, lets say, boring and hideous; so my sites looked rather standard to the trends at the time.. Alas, the internet has come a long way since then with web design and development trends being refined and enhanced.

Graduated from a Management faculty with a double major in Information Systems and Marketing, woohoo! do i join the the corporate slave trade? Or follow the norm and work at my father's business (He owns a kitchen mnfg brand) Or start another phase of education to get up to speed with the latest and greatest of webdev.

Yup you guessed it; it was back headfirst into xHTML/CSS/JS/PHP/Adobe suite. So i got some clients started working and here i am ~3 years later. My specialty lies in front-end development, but i like being a jack of all trades and a master of none so you'll find me tinkering with many other technologies

The funny thing is my portfolio site isn't 100% finished still. but i have managed to rely on word-of-mouth to string projects with little downtime in between for the past 2 years. I aim to setup my own company soon as a webdev agency but i'm enjoying the freelance perks too much atm.

That is enough for now. As expected, some projects didn't make it to the web, some were strictly design work (and ofcouse the client butchered it using a incompetent dev), some were maintenance packages, and a bit of SEO here and there.

I really want to get better still and focus on my strengths, but i noticed staring at your own work for too long dulls your self-critique and thats why i feel more public constructive criticism is in order.
