IE Display issues after page validation

In IE 7 this page does not display properly, the navbar is repeated 1 1/2 times, do I need to set a height for it in my ie specific stylesheet.

Also the id=main (main content) is pushed over to the left of the screen I thought margin:0 0 0 15px; would fix it but it hasn't any ideas?

I've fixed the repeating navigation background image, repeating-y, but for some reason it has a white background colour behind it even though this doesn't show up in firefox.

Any ideas?
