Why we use templates,in graphics?
to get an idea
so that we don`t make the same work twice. when you buy a car, you may be adding some tunning & custom functions or devices, but you`re not asking the seller to start from creating/designing the shape from zero... they use a template as well ;)
We use templates for getting an overview about the product which we want to buy, for getting the functionality, features & many more about the particular product.
The Template pattern belongs to the behavioral pattern category. The Template pattern defines a main process template and this main process template calls sub-processes in a sequential manner. Later, the sub processes of the main process can be altered to generate a different behavior.
Just as web tools there are lots of free templates available over the internet, thought with the ones you need to pay for you have the added advantage of support by the template creators if you look at www.webtoolson.com it has a great template that is so very flexible and easy to configure.
To keep consistency; if I have four designers all working on the same job, if they don't all start from the same base template, the colours will be slightly different, the margins inconsistent, etc. Using a template means they all start from the same place. That's a good thing!
