Marketing options such as search engine optimising (SEO), affiliate marketing, socialnetwork marketing, and email marketing have been around for long and continued tobe effective. However, other options such as press releases, forum posting, and linkexchanges cannot be ignored at any point, because these help to directly reach targeted potential customers in niche markets.

Well, most of the methods are effective, it totally depends on you how you promote your website, you should provide quality work if you are doing promotion of your site then you can expect quality result, there is no doubt to it really.

If you want to get higher page rank and also few visitors then i think forum posting and blog commenting is best but these links should be built on high page rank.

I use forum for promotion and it works good, the thing is you have to use niche forums which have higher number of visitors at daily basis there is no doubt to it really.

I agree, forums are good way to promotion, there is no doubt to it, but you have to use only quality forums and relevant forums for better result.
