If you get someone else to do this for you make sure their design is vector based (e.g. Adobe Illustrator) and not bitmap based (e.g. Adobe Photoshop); a proper logo must scale and that can only be done in a vector based design.

Agree... vector based design is ideal for logo's which may be required for large size printing. Vector based designs/ logos do not appear pixilated when stretched to a larger scale.
