Wheres the best place to get a domain?

Im currently starting up a new site webdevhelp.net. Im going to be buying the march special hosting package from thrillinghill.com Should i buy the domain through them for 15 dollars or should i buy it through godaddy for 8.95.

"Best" is relative. You're talking about a difference of $6, and only one domain, so if it were me I'd do it all in one shot, then you only have one company to deal with concerning your site. If, however, you were going to be buying a lot of domains in the future, then I'd probably consider going with the cheaper registrar. ;)

I register all my domains at godaddy, for various reasons. First of all, they are pretty much the cheapest place on the internet to do this. Secondly, if you every change hosting providers, you'll be very greatful you have your domain registered elsewhere. It makes it much easier. I would recommend godaddy, for sure.

Verisign runs the com root servers correct?

You should choose a reseller where the domain actually belongs to you yourself and is not rented.

I use RackShack.net (ev1) and I've had no trouble pointing to other servers. About $7 per domain.

Their customer service/tech support/response times and web site are all top notch. I have about 20 names registered there.

I used to use GoDaddy and have since transferred those names to DomainSite.

I use http://www.directi.com. Cheaper when you buy it in bulk..

I think the one thing that is missing on our suggestions of Godaddy is this...

They offer a ton of free services that I have found most helpful. for anyone who has not used 'domain forwarding' your missing something :D

So wait...what exactly is domain forwarding??
And if i buy a domain somewhere and then host my site somewhere else...is the user just..."forwared" to my host??
Isnt forwarding a bad thing? For serch engines and what not??
