Let me be the first to say, I'm sure there are quality adult sites out there that are very much accessible to the visually impaired. In addition, I'm sure that regular-sighted visitors to those sites are very much influenced by the design, layout, fonts and colors used.

Web standards are important in that they provide a framework for writing HTML correctly. They have nothing to do with creativity. Creativity isn't something that can be codified. It is unique to the designer - as we've witnessed from the various posts in this forum. If something lacks creativity, it is due to a flaw in the designer's artistry skills, not his/her adherence to standards.
So, to say that people are stupid because they are following web standards isn't a true statement. They might be perceived as stupid if their site lacks creativity - but that's not true either: designers are stupid when they ignore the needs of the client and that client's customers. Until anyone here is able to poll each website's customers and find if they are satisfied, I don't think it is fair to denote them as stupid.
