I personally like Oscommerce because it has such a huge opensouce community. Some other options though are X-cart, Virtuemart/Joomla. You can get hosting and some free pro templates for oscommerce...

You have a number of different options. First try populating your content with google adsense or adbrite then try offering some services or products that they might be interested in from affiliates....

I would normally use rollover images for something like this. Try removing the :link and :visited tags and see what happens.
