Yes Validate your code pls.. its a mess! i saw atleast 3 separate <head></head> & <body></body> tags scattered in your code.. that is very very bad if you plan on debugging browser inconsistencies....
Yes thats how i originally would have coded it myself. but unfortunately the client kept changing her mind. so the HTML isn't as semantic as it could have been!

hey peter, if i understand you correct, i believe the best way to accomplish this is to use ActionScript and leave the xml file for referencing the picture concent and "settings" only.
