    Question Newbie To PHP

I've been seeing more and more websites using files with the extension .php instead of .html

I've not heard of PHP until recently... Is it like HTML? Are there any good links/books out there that are good for someone just starting to look into PHP?

    Thanks!

PHP is a server side language, which means it runs on the server. It is not unlike CGI/Perl. The most useful link, IMO, is http://www.php.net A few others might be:

    http://www.phpbuilder.com/
    http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/...php/index.html
    http://php.resourceindex.com/
    http://www.zend.com/
more links can be found at http://www.php.net/links.php

And here's a good list of PHP editors:
