I am trying to not use a table to provide the desired spacing. What I want is the input fields on my form (http://www.usatek.net/~snoopy/test.shtml) to be aligned so that their left edges are at the same distance from the left. I thought I could do this by specifying the WIDTH on the descriptive text, but this doesn't seem to be working.
Also, I ran both the CSS and HTML through validator, CSS checked perfectly, but the HTML came back as tentative. I don't understand what it is that the validator wants me to do to clean up the HTML:
The document located at <http://www.usatek.net/~snoopy/test.shtml> was checked and found to be tentatively valid HTML 4.01 Transitional. This means that with the use of some fallback or override mechanism, we successfully performed a formal validation using an SGML or XML Parser. In other words, the document would validate as HTML 4.01 Transitional if you changed the markup to match the changes we have performed automatically, but it will not be valid until you make these changes.
About 2/3 way down, CSS styling of forms is discussed. I use this same method in working with mine.
