    resolved annoying 3px in moz driving me nuts RESOLVED

    I have this crazy idea that I can make little blog stickers using css.

    http://www.griffinoutpost.com/thelab...tickercss.html

    It works pretty good in ie, but in FF, there is a three-px white margin or padding or somthing that is making it look bad. Can anyone help? I do not know what I am doing worng to get it to look the way it does in ie.

    Thanks for all your help.

    Ugly but works in FF

    Code:
    <!--
    div, h1, p, a
    	{
    	font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Verdana, Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif;
    	color: #333333;
    	}

    a
    	{
    	background: #ffffff;
    	}
    #master
    	{
    	border: 1px solid #000000;
    	background-color: #ffffff;
            height: 12px;
            width: 78px;
    	}
    #firstword
    	{
    	margin: 1px;
    	background-color: #6402ac;
    	color: #ffffff;
    	padding: 1px 4px;
    	font-size: 5.5pt;
    	font-family: 'arial narrow', sans-serif;
    	float: left;
    	letter-spacing: 2px;
    	}
    #secondword
    	{
    	margin: 1px 1px 1px 0;
    	background-color: #ec6604;
    	color: #ffffff;
    	padding: 1px 4px;
    	font-size: 5.5pt;
    	font-family: 'arial narrow', sans-serif;
    	float: left;
    	letter-spacing: 2px;
    	}
    -->
    I'm sure there is a much more elegant way of doing it and I am sure that someone else will be able to give you an explaination why it didn't look the same in the original code in IE and FF. The above code is a bit ugly and untested in IE.

    Forget all the rubbish I posted above!! Doh!

    Just add font-size: 5.5pt; to #master.

    Why did that work?

    Not sure...

    The same thing happens in Opera too. Perhaps it is making the height of the #master div tall enough to leave room for the contents with the font at browser default sizes. By adding the font size to the containing div it now knows not to make them so tall. I am sure there is a much better explanation.

    Thanks, that makes sense.

    I am happy with the new one. And I have stripped out a lot of garbage.

    Are you just trying to make the button from css out of curiosity or is there a logical design advantage of some sort?

    Just playing around. Trying to figure out how serious is the notion "CSS is not for pixel perfect design".
