There is a long answer to this question, but I will give you the short answer here (for further reading search for "search engine optimization" in google)
What you need to get listed in the search engines is incoming links from other sites. By following those links the search engines will find your pages by themselves. How well you will rank in the search engines will depend primarily on the actual content of your page and the relevance of the incoming links. Meta tags count for very little if anything at all these days.
