getimagesize()?

OK, lemme explain what Im trying to do...
Firstly, I have a form which allows users to upload images (they SHOULD be images), then I have an email sent to me with a link to the uploaded images. I then have a simple page which displays the images (simple <img> tags) and asks me if I want to approve (allow the images to be posted) them. What I'm looking for is this...I want to get some details about each image listed below the <img="" /> like: length, width, image type, file size (Kb) but dont know if Im going about this the wrong way?
How SHOULD it be done?

when you upload the image, you can gather all of that data.
you can also do all of that at the preview page. have you seen the gd image library?
