ASP and javascript

Hello all,
I'm a beginner trying to extend Flash action scripting capabilities. Could someone please explain the relationship between ASP and Javascript?

Let me ask you a better question. Suppose the web hosting service I use is of no consequence. I am a Flash action scripter and would like to create dynamic pages with a Flash interface at the front end. I would like to connect to databases, invoke web services, and make my web application more dynamic than a mere fancy Flash interface. Security is a big issue.

Would you suggest I continue to use Flash action script, or should I learn another scripting language or programming language? And if so, which one would you suggest?

Can you tell me some of the more widely used server side languages out there? And would C++ be one of those?
