td.name:hoover for IE7

I have this style:
td.colnav:hover{
background-image:url(/gstatic/img/pw/colnav.gif);
background-repeat:repeat-x;
}
It works in Firefox on PC and Mac, but for some reason it doesn't work in IE7.
Does anybody know how to get this to work in IE7/IE6?

:hover only works on an a in IE6, but it should work for ie7, Link?

I haven't beet successful at getting the styles to work as a link - running into strange blinking effect in both Firefox and IE7.
So far I got this for the link:
a.colnav:hover {
display: block; width: 100%; height: 100%;
background-image:url(/gstatic/img/pw/colnav.gif);
background-repeat:repeat-x;
font-weight: bold;
color: #336699;
text-decoration: none;
}
If you have any more suggestions please let me know.

Can you post the URL, or at least attach the image "colnav.gif" so I/we/someone can test this locally?
