    link to download file

i want my hyperlinks to show the run/save dialog for a zip file.

i read somewhere on the internet that you can use the "False MIME" trick but it requires server side scripting, which i haven't got.

anyone know a way of doing this in javascript?

It would more than likely be the "Open" "Save" or "Cancel" dialogue box and not the "Run" "Save" ... options.

in your HTML tag for the file, put target="_self" in the hyperlink.

i tried it with an .exe file. without target="_self" in the hyperlink.
it automatically shows the "Open" "Save" or "Cancel" dialog box
    (probably for .zip too)
would using target="_self" in the hyperlink download any file?
    (i.e. .bmp, .pdf etc.)
