Put SQL statement in a asp variable?

Hello, I am learning asp and need som help..
can i put this codeline: conn.execute("SELECT * FROM sfjbue_Hovedside") in a variable. Got confused over all the quotes. Someone show me an example?

If you need to use quotes inside of quotes try using single quotes such as
sql = "select name from customers where name='bill' order by id"
