Welcome to the Coffee Lounge! Introduce yourself here.

Welcome to the Coffee Lounge! Here you can kick back and chill out, discuss what's on your mind, and good stuff like that. If you have any questions or problems, send a private message to rhsunderground or Jick, the moderators of this forum.

There are certain things that shouldn't be posted here. There should be in NO form advertisements or pornography, and please don't post links that contain excessive bad language or adult themes. If you link to a site that may have these things on it, please make a note of that in your post, or just don't post it. More or less, follow the Jupitermedia Acceptible Use Policy. Also, certain topics have come to be "hot topics" among the members that can spark great debate, so be forewarned.
    These include:
    • Music preferences
    • Browser preferences
    • Politics
Also do remember that while much of the membership of webdeveloper.com is based in the United States, there is a very large diversity here. Take that into mind when making comments; the same goes for people from any place.

There are some topics that have been black-listed, i.e. they will not occur. Abortion, homosexuality, and religion are such topics. These topics can easily spark an enormous debate, occaisionally arguments, so we simply wish to avoid them all together. If these topics show up in a thread, a warning will be posted saying "get on-topic." If they pop up again, the thread will simply be closed.

    Important information about Gmail invitations!
If you would like to get a Gmail invitation then please do not post a new thread about it. There are many members that advertise invitations in their signature. If you would like a Gmail invitation from them, please send them a Private Message including your first and last name and also your current e-mail address. You may not receive an invitation from the desired user if you do not include that information.

And now that all of that stuff is out of the way, introduce yourself!

Well, I guess I can introduce myself, seeing as I doubt if anyone here really knows me. I'm hooloovoo24, but you can call me whatever the heck you want. Mel works fine my be, or Ressa. Or hooloovoo, hlv, hoo, or anything. Really, whatever the heck you want.
I'm one of the few girls who posts on the coffee lounge (at least, I think I'm rare...), professional nerd and slacker, in love with Billie Joe Armstrong, Napoleon Dynamite, Harold Green, The Cat (from Red Dwarf), Ford Prefect, and writing. In that order.
Fell in love with his Keno waitress,
    They honeymooned in Memphis,
They were married by the drive up window.
    Trailer parks, neon signs,
And an empty box of Lucky Strikes,
All used up on the dashboard of America.

I am Paul, or The Tree, or Treeman or that ugly kid over there. I go to school and do... stuff. I really do hate introductions, actual conversation I can bear but this is just to wierd, it's like when you get introduced to some girl that your mate is sure your going to get on with but however much you may have in common you have nothing to say so inevitably the evening goes terribly and as a result you ruin what could have been a perfectly wonderful friendship (be that plutonic or not). Doing this online just adds to the obscurity because you have absolutely no idea how the person(s) your talking to are reacting and you could be just ranting on and on without realising it, which I'm sure I'm not but I could be. Maybe I'd better stop now, just in case.
Disclaimer. (1) Whilst I will help you sometimes, if I feel like it, and my advice in relation to your actual question will be of good quality: my posts are to be taken with a pinch of salt. I will be sarcastic, deploy irony and include obscure cultural references for my own amusement without warning.
    (2) You will gain nothing from complaining, and if you try to argue with me then you will not win. No matter how noble your battle seems, I am still better than you, don't be an hero.

    Well, hi!

I stumbled upon this community because I badly needed some help with a special JavaScript problem, and this site was among the top hits in Google. I found a very helpful partner to solve my problem in Jona (the one with the Jack O'Neill avatar), and as a matter of fact I decided to stay.

I don't know if I can give much back to the community, and unfortunately I'm already member of a few time consuming communities, but I'll try.

I've been known to talk to stuffed bunnies and converse intelligently with cats. "Crazy" and "weird" are in the long list of charges I face. Fortunately, no one has ever labelled me "certifiable". Yet.

When I'm not being odd, I'm an award-nominated author who lives and works in the Far East. Aside from work, I write non-fiction and fiction. To date, I've been involved in various commercial non-fiction projects and have had my fiction published online. Currently, I'm working on two dark fantasy novels and another non-fiction title.

    Hi! (^_^)

where at? I often read diablo, but the stories tend to be quite short, I'd love to see some of your tales.

I had one at Walking the Night With You and one at Spotlight Ezine. Unfortunately, both have folded. I can send you the stories if you'd like to read them.

Other than that, non-fiction is taking up almost all my time right now. The book that's out is The Fantasy Writer's Companion (nominated finalist for EPPIE and Foreword Magazine's Book of the Year Award). The book's details can be viewed at http://www.dragonmoonpress.com/companion.htm -- well, that is, until I get my webpage live.

Let me know if you'd like a sample of the non-fiction, as well.

(Yes, this is a plug. )
