You said Dell+HP. That is a waste... Go for HP and a waste it would not be!
Dell computers are only good for wasting silicon!
Don't even think about saying that is what HP is also good for...
SHREK 2 was animated entirely with HP computers and look at how good that movie turned out! (Don't think about insulting that either!)

ACK! I just saw the poll! Dell is in the lead! That's a problem! I hope those votes for dell were not made out of loyalty for a brand. My vote for HP was made entirely out of, well, loyalty. Don't let Dell win! (Goes and cries)

    Well
I have to agree with some bloke before that said that if you want to get a state of the range top of the art machine build it yourself and most people that post on this forum can and do do that.

But after taking apart my dads Dell Dimension (sort of charcoal coloured thing) I did like some design inavitives: -

    >< Pivoting case hinge to remove drives easily
    >< Case mounted CPU fan with nozzle to direct airflow onto the heatsink
    >< Green clips on the expansion slots for easy card removal
    >< New BIG style back case fan

Where as HPs tend to look nicer...
I thing cmpanies tend to say "OK we want some bog-standard PCs, those Dell things look simple"

    agree?

PeOfEo, in your last post in this forum, you didn't type in pink!
LiLcRaZyFuZzY, that is a great idea! Or I'll just get a wicked cool HP case and put my custom computer inside!
nshiell, you are right about HPs looking cooler! Dells are black and grey, HPs are just about as pretty as store bought computers get. Although the Dell XPS looks neat, it does not compare to HPs top of the line PCs, and you really should consider Gmail! I would be glad to send you an invite to it! Here is my Email: phred.847@gmail.com

OH yeah, before I forget.... Compaq is owned by HP and therefore is a part of it! This thread has been quite vague on Compaq!
My own computer is a Compaq SR1010Z. It's the most beautiful computer in the world! (cause it's mine)
