    Haha IE Users!

    You can have your HDDs formatted by using Internet Explorer http://www.extremetech.com/article2...3,717213,00.asp Maybe now you'll switch to a more standards compliant browser There is a fix at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ I think.

    Mozilla kicks MSIE's buttocks and Opera is a far, far better browser that Mozilla. And Lynx is better than Netscape 4. And Umberto Eco is a much better writer than Tolkien.

    A bit off-topic, but: have you tried the Opera 7 beta Charles? What do you think? Definately a big improvement over V6.

    I'm not a big Beta tester so no, I haven't previewed Opera 7. But I'm having trouble waiting for the real thing to come out. Does it support XML stylesheets?

    Yes it seems to (just on a quick test page I wrote). I thought V6 did anway, but maybe not. Some of it's CSS support is actually a lot better than Mozilla, but there are still a few bugs. Hopefully they'll have most of them sorted before the final.

    How about all that funky CSS2 stuff, markers and page breaks ???

    Perhaps I will try out the Beta.

    Yep I think they all work. This example from the CSS 2 spec works (which I think does not in Mozilla):

    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0//EN">
    <HTML>
       <HEAD>
         <TITLE>Creating a list with markers</TITLE>
         <STYLE type="text/css">
    	  LI:before {
    	      display: marker;
    	      content: counter(mycounter, lower-roman) ".";
    	      counter-increment: mycounter;
    	  }
         </STYLE>
      </HEAD>
      <BODY>
        <OL>
          <LI> This is the first item.
          <LI> This is the second item.
          <LI> This is the third item.
        </OL>
      </BODY>
    </HTML>
    I think the page breaks work fine too. They have site navigation bars, alternate style sheets, and a bunch of other style implemented too now. I find it does crash from time to time, but it's really good apart from that.

    No, in fact Opera 7 BETA is what actually says it all.
    I haven't used the Beta but Opera 6 causes far fewer crashes on my systems that IE. I'd bet that even the Beta Opera is more stable and security bug free than a final release from M$

    My preferences:
    Opera 6
    Mozilla 1.x
    IE6
    NS4.62
    IE5.x
    NS6

    I do still use IE a lot (have to at work - no choice) and there are just so many FrontPage designed sites out there that just don't work properly in anything else

    By the way there is an new Opera 7 beta, which just fixed that security problem where pages could access some files on your HDD.

    The way MS handles that is by calling it a feature

    If you place Opera 6 before Mozilla you might want to try out K-Meleon and Phoenix. Slimmed down browser only versions of Mozilla.

    Those 2 togheter with Opera 7 are by far the best browsers on Win currently IMO.
