    My first website

How's it look? I might be buying a domain for it soon, on awardspace currently.

And turn your speakers while you're browsing.

    Positives:
    - Really dig the dark look, pretty clean too
    - The forum matches the website scheme very nicely
    - I like the show/hide on the videos page, but again maybe style those buttons

    Negatives:
    - Your top logo, the font/size of the line above "Somewhere You Belong" is hard to read
    - in IE6 when I went to the VIDEOS page it totally freaked out on me. This happened on the SONGS page as well

    Suggestions:
    - Style up your left side form a little, add some interactivity and perhaps a cooler looking "Shout" submit button. Cross-Browser Interactive Form Elements

It's pretty nice for your first website, great job!

I'm not a fan of 'dark pages' but this is okay. It is not 'Goth dark'...

Loaded faster than I expected, -but it could be made faster. You could optimize some, most or all images and get the download @56kbs as close to 10-seconds as possible. The 'wait time to resolve or die' is usually measured at 56-kbs and after 8-seconds of waiting, people start to 'back navigate' out of a site...

Overall though, -you did an excellent page.

-I tried it out on internet explorer, and it worked fine, but that might just be because I have version 7.0.6

-It looks like the submit buttons are quite bigger on IE than firefox too. And IE stretches the input boxes on the shoutbox. So I'll add in some color to the buttons to make them match a bit.

-I like dark websites, because literally, you're STARING INTO A LIGHT BULB when you look at a site like here.

-And I'll look into a clearer font for the slogan... I just used one that looked like handwriting in the generic fonts.

Oh, and I don't think the DL times should matter much, because after those few seconds your browser will cache them right?

    Do you fish?
You should 'bait your visitor' with fast-loading first-page. The insertion page is the one that 'hooks' the visitor. If you have multiple pages, you can go into depth with more content in later pages, which would of course be slower-to-load, -but at that point, they requested it. At 22-point-something seconds load-time @56kbs, -you just lost about 50% of your potential visitors due to 'wait'.. I waited over 6-seconds on nearly-T1 speed and was about to back-out.. Admittedly though I am impatient towards the end of my day.

No, -as a web developer I have page-caching (and often javascript not that you are using that though) turned off to better estimate & rate the first-visit experience. I only turn-on caching when I am doing subject searching and for the reasons you stated.

Would it be faster when I buy hosting? I would guess a free sub domain site would be kinda slow.

I would suggestion downloading the IE6 standalone for testing, as IE6 is still the majority browser vs IE7 (unfortunately)

Ok... is there anyway I could change the style for browsers?

Something like "if browser is this, then show this style"

It only works for versions of IE though.
