Help with special effect

Can anyone tell me or point me to someone who can how to make something like this http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/tv/riv...ore/list.shtml

The point of it is so when you click on the image it brings more information up on the page.

That effect is called "lightbox". Google it, -you'll find ready-made scripts and how-to-do sites.
I've done this before... it's an awesome effect, huh?

You will need to use javascript. Check out lightbox or thickbox. You can google them and get instructions on how to use it.
