xml scripting

I have been offered a job but i need to know the basics of XML scripting as a pre-requisite.

Unfortunately, the job will start in approximately 1 month, so i need to know the basics of XML scripting, what it does, when it is required....etc

Does anyone know where i can learn about this from a beginners level?
