Drop Down Menu CSS Question / Firefox IE

Hi I'm having a rough time trying to figure out why this modified menu script is taking completely different form in IE from Firefox.

I am using a menu script I found here: http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/slide_definition.html

The modified Script works fine in IE and F.F. so far when I remove content from in between the <li> tags: http://financetrendsmatter.com/test1.html.

The problem is when I try to add another property "#menu li:hover dlt, #menu li a:hover dlt {height:8em; background:#CCCCCC;}" (so the drop down isn't as long) and remove the <li>'s from certain area's (so that the link won't have a drop down) I get major problems in IE: http://financetrendsmatter.com/test2.html.

If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.
