I tried:
if(object.data == undefined) { //object must be empty
In this case i checked for an undefined data attribute because in my specific case, if the object was not empty it would contain a data field.
It is working just fine simply because I know in advance the nature of my object. So for anyone else attempting to find if an object is empty, if you already know the type of your object, or the field it would contain or must contain if it were empty, you can simply check for that field.
