Hello guys,
I am new to this forum and kind of new to web development. The only website i have ever developed was in Ms frontpage and dreamweaver for a class assignment and it was never deployed.

So now i am taking on a project and wondering what tools to use.
What are the pros and cons of using different technologies..

I don't even know where to begin.

I also want to know what are the hot technologies in the market and look good on your resume.. So maybe my project can help me find a job.

You pick the technology suitable for the website, not the other way around. It depends on what the website is for, and what your audience is.

There are a small handful of technologies that are more marketable than others, if you are looking for a job. Java and .NET development seem to have the most, and highest paying jobs out there, but PHP is becoming a more prevalent language. There are also lots of sites based on Python too.

First, I'd say go to careerbuilder.com or monster.com and start looking for programming jobs. Search for a general term like "web developer" and see what pops up in your area, or the area you want to move to.
