background image not displaying in Firefox
So here is my question, I have a site www.totalmd.com/asp.html the problem that I am having is that while the background image is displaying the way I want on IE 7 and 6 it is not displaying the image in Firefox. I can provide my CSS code for anyone who can figure this, I know that I can’t.
I get a 404, you sure it's not your image that's the problem?
I don't know why Firefox is looking for that image in my css i have it going to specific path for the image and it not titled untitled1.jpg, please look at the page with ie 7 or 6 then with firefox www.totalmd.com/asp.html.
Doesn't matter, CSS works on a top down basis, you set the background image in the CSS, but then you set it again on the body tag with the invalid file name, so it can't be found. For some reason IE is ignoring the declaration on the body tag.
Just remove the extra background option:
And it should be fixed when you reload.
<body style="background-image: url('Untitled1.jpg'); background-attachment: fixed">
thank you for your help, but i'm still getting the same thing even after removing that line of code, i have tried adding a style line to the div but it still only displays a white background with the image behind it.
Hi there richarddentimax,
I think that the problem is suggested on page validation...
The following missing or conflicting information caused the validator to perform guesswork prior to validation. If the guess or fallback is incorrect, it may make validation results entirely incoherent. It is highly recommended to check these potential issues, and, if necessary, fix them and re-validate the document.
Warning Byte-Order Mark found in UTF-8 File.
The Unicode Byte-Order Mark (BOM) in UTF-8 encoded files is known to cause problems for some text editors and older browsers. You may want to consider avoiding its use until it is better supported.
All three of your stylesheets appear to be infected...
