users being able to save information

I am probably in the wrong forum, but I was wondering how I could have have users be able to save information to a database that is placed on a network and how this information is accessed and displayed in java and html. Can anyone point me in some good reading material or the language used

If you are using Java, ask in that forum. JavaScript can not access a database.

Javascript cannot directly connect to a database. You will need to make use of a server-side language such as Java, PHP, or ASP. You can use AJAX if you want to use Javascript in the process.
