Layer position differs depending on screen resolution

I too have the same problem as Illufox but I did not understand the solution given by Fang.

So, Fang can you explain or anyone else?

imgMapObj = document.getElementById("imgMap");
imMouseX = mouseX - imgMapObj.offsetLeft;
imMouseY = mouseY - imgMapObj.offsetTop;

It appears correctly in 1024x768 res. but not on other resolutions.

Do you mean the whole site is centered in that resolution?
A quick fix would be:

body {
position:relative;
width:1000px;
margin:auto;
}
